UB40 at SWFL Event Center

New Album World-famous reggae stars UB40 are set to mark their 40th anniversary with a 2018 US tour and first album release in over four years. The band will play many of their seventeen Top 10 hit singles, including ‘Kingston Town’, ‘Food For Thought’, ‘One In Ten’, ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’, ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ and ‘Sing Our Own Song’ and, of course, ‘Red, Red Wine’, amongst many other fan favorites. Featuring five of UB40’s six founding members, Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer and Norman Hassan, and long-time members Duncan Campbell, Martin Meredith, Lawrence Parry and Tony Mullings, the group’s 40th anniversary concert will follow the release of the band’s first new studio album in over four years.

  • The number of closed sales in the 12 months ending June 30, 2019 for the Naples, Bonita Springs and Estero area increased 5% year-over-year (7,126 vs 6,813). 
  • There were 39 closed sales, priced above two million, in June 2019 compared to 46 in June 2018 a 15% decrease. During the 12 months ending June 30, 2019, sales in this category increased 5% over the same time period in 2018 (421 vs 401). 

NEW LISTINGS / INVENTORY

  • During the 12 months ending June 30, 2019, a total of 11,550 new listings were added to the market, this is 6% more listings than the same time period, 12 months ending June 30, 2018. 
  • Available inventory as of June 30, 2019 consisted of 5,064 units, an increase of 2% vs the same time period in 2018. Current inventory represents 9 months of supply based on current absorption rates. 

AVERAGE & MEDIAN SALES PRICE

  • The year-over-year average sales price for the area was $661,282 which decreased 1% over the same time period in 2018.

Cirque du Soleil: Corteo

Cirque du Soleil: Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company, self-described as a “dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment.” Based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and located in the inner-city area of Saint-Michel, it was founded in Baie-Saint-Paul in 1984 by two former street performers, Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.

Initially named Les Échassiers, they toured Quebec in 1980 as a performing troupe and encountered financial hardship that was relieved by a government grant in 1983 as part of the 450th anniversary celebrations of Jacques Cartier’s discovery of Canada. Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil was a success in 1984, and after securing a second year of funding, Laliberté hired Guy Caron from the National Circus School to re-create it as a “proper circus”. Its theatrical, character-driven approach and the absence of performing animals helped define Cirque du Soleil as the contemporary circus (“nouveau cirque”) that it remains today.

Each show is a synthesis of circus styles from around the world, with its own central theme and storyline. They draw the audience into the performance through continuous live music, with performers rather than stagehands changing the props. After financial successes and failures in the late 1980s, Nouvelle Expérience was created – with the direction of Franco Dragone – which not only made Cirque profitable by 1990, but allowed it to create new shows.

Cirque expanded rapidly through the 1990s and 2000s, going from one show to 19 shows in over 271 cities on every continent except Africa and Antarctica. The shows employ approximately 4,000 people from over 40 countries and generate an estimated annual revenue exceeding US$810 million. The multiple permanent Las Vegas shows alone play to more than 9,000 people a night, 5% of the city’s visitors, adding to the 90 million people who have experienced Cirque worldwide. In 2000, Laliberté bought out Gauthier, and with 95% ownership, has continued to expand the brand. In 2008, Laliberté split 20% of his share equally between two investment groups Istithmar World and Nakheel of Dubai, in order to further finance the company’s goals. In partnership with these two groups, Cirque plans to build a residency show in the United Arab Emirates by 2012. Several more shows are in development around the world, along with a television deal, women’s clothing line and the possible venture into other mediums such as spas, restaurants and nightclubs.[9] Cirque also produces a small number of private and corporate events each year (past clients have been the royal family of Dubai and the 2007 Super Bowl).

Cirque’s creations have been awarded numerous prizes and distinctions, including a Bambi Award in 1997, a Rose d’Or in 1989, Drama Desk Awards in 1991 and 1998, three Gemini Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards.

SummerJazz on the Gulf – Late Night Brass

July 20, 2019, 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

A popular Southwest Florida tradition continues, as The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club will host its annual “SummerJazz on the Gulf” concert series for the 34th consecutive year. The fun, free concert series combines a diverse array of musical entertainment with beautiful views of the Gulf, breathtaking sunsets, refreshing breezes, and a relaxing atmosphere. The concert is held on the AAA Four-Diamond beachfront resort’s scenic Watkins Lawn overlooking the Gulf. “SummerJazz on the Gulf” will take place July 20 with Late Night Brass playing from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Late Night Brass is a high-energy band that features a powerful four-piece horn section (saxophone, two trumpets, and trombone), a driving four-piece rhythm section (keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums), a talented male vocalist, and a dynamic female vocalist. They will perform a range of songs from such popular horn bands as Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, KC & The Sunshine Band, and Blood Sweat & Tears. The band also plays songs from such groups as Huey Lewis & The News, The Blues Brothers, and Doobie Brothers. The band has opened up for Chicago, Huey Lewis & The News, Billy Joel, Elton John, Dennis DeYoung (from Styx), and Michael Bublé.

Hotel guests will receive complimentary parking at the resort. For those not staying at the resort there will be parking just north of the hotel at Lowdermilk Park, with free parking provided to those with a Naples beach sticker, and free trolley service to the resort and back.
