A Naples Tradition: Christmas at Palm Cottage

Christmas is a wonderful time of year in Naples, as there are many holiday events taking place downtown and throughout our city.  One Naples tradition that is steeped in a rich historic past is ‘Christmas at Palm Cottage’. At the northeast corner of 12th Avenue South and Gulf Shore Boulevard sits an exquisite example of Naples authentic charm. Under the preservation of the Naples Historical Society, the Palm Cottage house museum is the oldest house in Naples. Built in 1895, it is a fine example of Tabbie Mortar construction, a hand-made concrete consisting of sand, shells and water.   Each year at Christmastime, the Palm Cottage House is decorated for the holidays and open to the public for tours. While the home is open to the public for tours year-round, Christmas is a special event at the home because of the illuminating and beautiful holiday lights and décor.  The Naples Historical Society is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors and serves many hundreds of members.

Whether you are a history buff or a preservation-minded individual, or whether you just want to learn know more about Naples, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit Palm Cottage!  Located conveniently in the Naples Historic District, one block east of the Naples Pier, the Naples Historical Society is headquartered on the grounds of Palm Cottage.  Tours also include the Norris Gardens and the Naples Historic District. Christmas tours are available through December 29th from the hours of 1-8PM. Please visit www.NaplesHistoricalSociety.org for tour information and reservations.
